Search continues for Maryville woman who fell off boat

Tellico LakeTellico LakeFrom the Knoxville News Sentinel: VONORE — Authorities are searching Tellico Lake this morning for a Maryville woman who fell off the back of a boat Saturday night, according to Vonore Police Chief John Hines.

Stephanie Renee McDonald, 32, was on a platform at the rear of a ski boat when she tumbled into the water and didn’t resurface about 8 p.m. Saturday, said Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Thomas Goodman.

According to the article by Dave Flessner and Mike Pare of the Times Free Press, Divers have found underwater concrete defects along the riverfront wall including five instances of voids, cracking concrete and exposed rebar. Chattanooga firefighters responded to the Chickamauga Lock construction site after a 911 call was made when a 41-year-old male suddenly fell ill and said he was having difficulty breathing. Chattanooga firefighters used a rope system and 104-foot ladder with an aerial platform to lower the worker, who was transported by EMS to Erlanger Medical Center.
